The Columbus Dispatch
Norwich Township voted unanimously last night to begin an emergency services billing program that is expected to generate as much as $600,000 a year.
The contract with health-care company Med 3000, which operates EMS billing for Columbus and other central Ohio cities, begins next month. No residents of the city of Hilliard, Brown or Norwich townships should receive bills. Under soft billing, the uninsured, or those who can't pay, won't have to.

A Proud Partner in Your Community
EMS Week 2009 – May 17-23

MED3OOO joins with other grateful Americans across the nation to say thank you to all the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving their communities as EMTs and Paramedics. These men and women are the front line of emergency health care. They are from big cities and small towns. They are career people, part timers, or volunteers. They come from many different backgrounds. But the one thing they have in common is their desire to help. They work while we sleep, while we celebrate holidays, when the weather forces us stay home. MED3OOO says thank you for caring and for a job well done.

Spotlight on Success: Bellbrook, Ohio
One of MED3OOO’s first EMS billing customers was the Bellbrook Fire Department, located in the heart of Green County, Ohio. The 35 full-time, part-time, and volunteer members of the Bellbrook Fire Department (BFD) proudly provide professional, caring services to the citizens and guests of Bellbrook. In 2008, BFD responded to 527 EMS calls.
BFD traces its roots to 1836 when the village council allocated $23.00 to John R. Dinwiddie for the purchase of fire hooks, ropes, and ladders. In 1949, the Sugarcreek-Bellbrook Fire Department was organized. Township residents filed a petition in 1987 to remove the city from the township, which forced the department to divide not only personnel but resources and equipment as well. Thus, the Bellbrook Fire Department was born. In 1999, the department's first Chief, Joseph Knopp, retired from service and long time department member Captain Scott Hall was promoted to the position of Fire Chief.
Chief Hall, in 2001, began investigating EMS billing and in 2005 partnered with MED3OOO for EMS revenue recovery. The recovered revenue is used to support city operations for vital emergency services such as medical supplies, paramedic training aids, and fuel.
For Chief Hall, revenue recovery is only part of what makes partnering with MED3OOO so successful. BFD’s dedication to providing excellent customer service to their community matches MED3OOO’s focus on customer service. Chief Hall believes “One reason MED3OOO provides such quality billing services to their clients is as a result of their staff’s former backgrounds in the fields of fire and EMS service delivery. This gives MED3OOO a significant edge over their competition by providing a realistic, family-based approach to the needs of not only our fire department, but also those we serve who may interact with our billing agent.”
For Chief Hall, MED3OOO’s expertise and personal attention to his department are important: “Simply stated, the folks at MED3OOO understand both sides of the equation when it comes to EMS service delivery and the satisfaction of the citizen end user. We are very pleased to partner with their team of professionals who assist with our EMS billing needs.”
